根据基本科学指标数据库（essential science indicators，简称esi）2024年5月9发布的最新数据显示（2024年5月9日更新，数据涵盖10年2个月：2014年 - 2024 年2月），本期共有9019家研究机构进入esi全球前百分之一，我校尚未有学科进入esi学科前1%。
为了解我校学科进入esi前1%的潜力情况，选取incites 数据集（incites 数据集更新于2024年4月26日。包含 web of science 标引内容 2024年3月31日）湖北民族大学2014-2024年 esi 22个学科发表的web of science论文的被引频次，并分别与esi 学科阈值进行比较，并计算出与 esi 绝对差距和与 esi 潜力值，esi 潜力值越接近1，表明该学科进入 esi 前1%行列的可能性越大。由于incites 数据集更新日期2024年4月26日。包含 web of science 标引内容截止 2024年3月31日。晚于esi数据涵盖数据范围2024年2月29日，因此实际发文量和引用量略有增加，会导致潜力值比实际略微偏高。
